Friday Saturday ' We're coming home

WELL, it’s time to come home. The team got a lot done but there is more to do. A contractor will come in a finish off for us. The end wall is very very close to being complete, the new window is in and wall built up around it. The promotion ceremony was so much fun. The kids all put on such wonderful skits and the parents all ran down front to get pictures of their children. That was so cool. Of course, we’ll just have to come back! : ) Below are pictures of the crew, and the two new walls.

Saturday, we will be sleeping in for a change. Checking out of the hotel and having lunch up on the volcano. Should be very picturesque.

See you soon.

THURSDAY NOVEMBER 8

Thursday was a busy day.

Al and Gary went to the Compassion compund and visited with the kids they sponsor. What an incredible time they had. Emotional and inspirational at the same time.

Back at the school, the rest of us started working on demolishing the wall upstairs. Josue did some fancy negotiating and got a good price on a jack hammer. Kelly and Steve whacked away at the wall with sledges before the jackhammer appeared. We also had some laborers come and remove the debris we had been creating. The price was ridiculously small and the guys were the strongest people I have ever seen. They carried all the debris you see in the pic DOWNSTAIRS and into their truck for us.

So the pictures are of the start of the day, the end of the day and the debris removed. Tomorrow we will be attending the closing ceremony for the school,. Should be real fun!

KELLY CUTTING BLOCKS

Tuesday November 6

Well, another great day today. Josue and I have never sifted so much sand in our lives, but Steve is making great mortar with it and Kelly and Gary have the wall going up quickly. We had to order more cinder blocks today, so possibility of sore arms tomorrow.... but Josue was able to negotiate a trade for some of our new purchases. We bought a little too much concrete and he was able to swap some bags for more blocks and some wood. It's so wonderful that all the supplies are being delivered to us.

Alan and Don continue to meet with administrators of the school working on the fund raiser DVD and Liss, Sharilyn, Richardo and Carlos stopped by today to work with Don on it.

Today we even had time to play with a lot of the kids! There are quite a few new faces so I got a lot more signatures on my overalls. I will be adding a fun picture of Steve playing basketball with the kids when I get my computer powered up again. : ) I'm doing this from the hotel business center.

Jenn and Leslie, you will be proud of all of us. We are practicing our spanish and learning along the way. Everyone says hi. AND I MET MILTON TODAY.

Signing off for Tuesday! Miss you all but we are all well!

Monday November 5

WOW What an incredible day. When we arrived the first priority was to enlarge a classroom so that the school an offer a new class to older students. The only problem, the wall to move is an outside wall. So, the railing was cut, the hardware store was visited..... we lifted the 110 cinderblocks up to the upper level for the new wall, concrete was mixed in the wheelbarrow and work began. After the new outside wall is installed, the old wall will be removed. Great teamwork today. The pictures tell just how much work was done.

Al, Fran and Josue went to David´s (Josue´s brother) seminary graduation that evening. It was a tremendous celebration. After Fran and Josue attended the celebratory dinner that David´s ministry threw for him. Is was a wonderful evening.

We Have Arrived

After a much bumpy flight, we are all here safe and sound. Luis (our driver for the week) was at the airport waiting for us along with Liss (the principal at the school) and Sharlyn (a missionary at the school). We are now checked in and will spend our free Saturday afternoon at the Artisan Market.
